Live bacteria in autoimmunity: Modulating immune tolerance

Autoimmune diseases are increasingly recognised as conditions of immune dysregulation arising from environmental triggers, genetic predisposition and microbial imbalance. Disruption of mucosal barriers, including those of the gut and the mouth, allows antigens to enter circulation, fuelling inflammation and immune confusion.

Live bacteria offer a unique therapeutic approach by helping restore immune tolerance, reduce inflammatory cytokine production and strengthen mucosal defences.

In this webinar, the presenters will explore how select probiotic strains affect cytokine signalling and mucosal repair across key mucosal sites, and how dysbiosis in both the gut and oral microbiome can contribute to the breaking of immune tolerance in autoimmune conditions. They will then review research demonstrating their potential to influence autoimmune pathways in common conditions.

Attendees will learn how cultivating healthy microbial communities across key mucosal sites — including the gut and the mouth — can be integrated with conventional treatment strategies to reduce inflammation, support gut-immune and oral-immune balance, and enhance patient resilience.

This webinar is hosted by Activated Probiotics' European Practitioner Consultant Yuwa Aghedo and Operations Manager and Education Support Karen Harrison.

Performance and Recovery: Live bacteria for Active Living

Physical exertion impacts not only the musculoskeletal system but also the gut and immune response. Prolonged training and endurance exercise are known to increase intestinal permeability, oxidative stress and transient inflammation, all of which can compromise performance, nutrient absorption and recovery. The gut microbiome plays a pivotal role in mitigating these effects, supporting efficient nutrient utilisation, iron uptake and immune stability.

This webinar reviews clinical research on probiotic strains which have been shown to reinforce gut barrier function and modulate inflammatory pathways. The presenters will examine how live bacteria contribute to faster recovery, reduced gastrointestinal distress during training, and improved immune surveillance in athletes and physically active individuals. Gain practical insights into the strategic use of live bacteria to sustain performance, recovery, and long-term health in active individuals.
